The Site
La Font del Gos is a neighbourhood on the metropolitan edge of Barcelona: fragmented, underserviced, and caught between infrastructural pressures and ecological risk. Europan 18 asked teams to propose responses to a multi-layered territorial challenge: flooding, wildfire risk, soil aridity, and social fragmentation happening simultaneously on the same land.
The Strategy
“Volver a la Frontera / Barrio” proposes an integrated metropolitan strategy driven by continuous environmental data monitoring. The masterplan is not a fixed plan. It is an adaptive system. Environmental risks are identified through parameters (slope, land use, ecological conditions) and tracked over time, informing which adaptation or mitigation strategy to activate and when.

The strategies include: forest restoration, sustainable agriculture support, improved public transportation connectivity to reduce emissions, modular new housing, material reuse, and renewable energy integration. The project treats the neighbourhood as a system rather than a collection of interventions.

My Role
My contribution focused on the urban-scale visualization and spatial translation of the concept. I developed the three-dimensional territorial model that became the primary tool for communicating the project’s vision: modeling existing conditions, proposed interventions, and the layered environmental strategies that frame the design logic.
The 3D model was not decorative. It was the instrument through which the team tested and refined the relationship between landscape, infrastructure, and social space.
